Preferences : Tag/Filename/CDDB Options

Choosing "Preferences..." from the File Menu, or clicking "Preferences..." in the MPegger window allows you to specify the encoding options. There are three pages of options. The third page of options looks like this.

1. Filename Options
Controls how MPegger handles the encoded files. There are several options you may change:
Add .mpN To Name - Adds a file extension to the end of the encoded file, such as .mp3 or .mp2.

Add Track # to Name - Puts the track number at the beginning of an encoded file that was extracted from a CD.

Convert Spaces to '_' - Changes any spaces in the file name to underscores.

Cap. Letter 1 Each Word - Capitalizes the first letter of every word in the file name

Name Using CD Remote Database - Decides what to name the file based on the data MPegger receives from the CDDB.

Separate CDs in Subfolders - Creates a new folder for each CD you use. This may help organize your files better.

File Type - Lets you select the default player for encoded files.

2. Tag Options
MPegger may add ID3 tags to MP3 files when it finishes encoding, and can use Escient's Compact Disc Database (CDDB) to retrieve information about the CD in your drive via the internet.

    Add ID3 V1 Tags - Adds ID3 V1 tags to the document.

Add ID3 V2 Tags - Adds ID3 V2 tags, which are slightly different than V1 to the document.

Tag Using CD Remote Database - Uses song data stored in your CD Remote Database. You can change this database through most CD player programs like AppleCD Audio Player.

Query CDDB if Necessary - If your computer doesn't have any data for the CD you select, then when you click "Open CD," it will look up the data about the CD via the internet.

Auto Tag Completion - Automatically completes missing fields in the ID3 tag window.

Default Genre - You may use this to select the default music genre for the ID3 tag window.

3. CDDB Server Options
These control how MPegger accesses the CDDB server.

Server/Port - You may use these to change which server is used to retrieve CD data.

Username - The username you send to the CDDB.

Host - You should replace this with your internet service provider's name or URL.
